Overview

The Group of Twenty (G-20) is a group of finance ministers and central bank governors from 20 economies: 19 countries plus the European Union, which is represented by the President of the European Council and by the European Central Bank. The group is deeply involved in the global financial regulatory reform process.

The Financial Stability Board (FSB), established to address vulnerabilities and to develop and implement strong regulatory, supervisory and other policies in the interest of financial stability, continuously monitors global progress on issues such as systemic risk, capital standards, derivatives and credit rating agencies to ensure a harmonized global approach to regulation.

As countries across the globe begin to implement financial regulatory reform, the G-20 and the FSB are charged with ensuring those new regulations are harmonized globally.
