Erica Williams

Erica Williams is a partner in the Government, Regulatory & Investigations Group at Kirkland & Ellis, where her practice focuses on internal investigations and defense of companies and individuals accused by the government in securities law violations, white collar crime and other major litigation disputes and crises. Erica also established and oversees the firm’s FinTech Industry Group. Erica previously served as Special Assistant and Associate Counsel to President Barack Obama, where she advised on legal and constitutional issues involving economic policy and financial regulation. Before that, Erica spent 11 years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for three chairmen. Earlier, Erica served as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the SEC Enforcement Division’s Trial Unit where she investigated and litigated complex, high-profile matters, including matters arising out of the 2008 financial crisis. Erica earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia.
