P.J. Austin
Mr. Austin holds the position of Vice President, Tax at SIFMA. In this role, he is SIFMA’s lead government affairs officer on tax issues.
Mr. Austin joined SIFMA after nearly eight years as a senior staffer in the United States Senate, where he served as the policy lead on tax and financial services issues for three different senators, including two senior members of the Finance Committee. In these roles, he contributed to several major pieces of tax and economic legislation, including the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, 2019 SECURE Act, the 2020 CARES Act, and the 2022 SECURE Act 2.0 retirement security legislation.
Prior to the U.S. Senate, Mr. Austin held advocacy and policy analysis roles in the private and not-for-profit sectors. He holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a M.P.A. from the George Washington University.
