SIFMA provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on FINRA’s proposal to implement margin requirements for forward settling agency MBS trades, including TBAs. SIFMA is concerned about the potential material negative impact of the Proposal on the mortgage market, particularly as to whether the burdens of certain aspects of the Proposal will cause either member firms or their counterparties to withdraw from parts of the market.
