Summary

SIFMA provides comments to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Chicago regarding a proposed ordinance that would impute on mortgagees and assignees the status and related duties of ownership of vacant residential property regardless of the mortgagee or assignee’s legal title or rights to the property.

In this letter, SIFMA suggests three amendments to the proposed ordinance titled “Amendment of Chapters 13-12 and 13-13 of Municipal Code concerning owner and minimum requirements for vacant buildings.”
