Matthias Paul Kuhlmey, Executive Vice President | Chief Development Officer, Hightower Advisors.

Matthias Paul Kuhlmey is the Chief Development Officer of Hightower, a national holistic wealth management firm in the independent space for financial advice. He brings over 25 years of passionate leadership, international business, and investment acumen to his role. Matthias joined Hightower during the start-up phase and, over time, has held various positions, most notably as the architect of what is today HighTower’s investment platform, but also informing the early build of the firm’s M&A acquisition strategy.

Matthias joined Hightower from UBS’s prestigious Private Wealth Management division, post him leading Bank Julius Baer’s NYC-based domestic Private Banking team. Prior, at Deutsche Bank AG, Matthias advised a global client base, and was involved in projects leading to the integration of acquired Bankers Trust Co. into Deutsche Bank’s U.S.-based operation. At Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, Matthias focused on exposure and credit risk management. Starting his career in Europe, Matthias worked in various functions with Deutsche Bank, including in support of a global Divisional Board Member team in Frankfurt, Germany.

Matthias received his degree in Business Law from the Leuphania University in Lüneburg, Germany, and a degree in banking and finance from Hannover Business School, Germany. As a native German, he is proficient in spoken and written German. Matthias holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses.

As an experienced leadership expert and passionate market and socioeconomic observer, Matthias has been a desired public speaker, column author, and contributor to various media channels, incl. Bloomberg, Reuters, etc. Matthias teaches at Columbia University’s respected school of Professional Studies.
