Thomas A. Giacalone
Tom Giacalone serves in two key Operations leadership roles for UBS.
As Head of Operations, WM Americas he drives strategic direction and leads all Operational functions and services, supporting 7,000 Advisors, over $1 trillion in invested assets across more than 200 offices in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Brazil.
As Head of Operations for the Americas, he oversees operations for all UBS Business Divisions across the region. He has held both of these roles since the end of 2015. Tom serves as a member of multiple senior governance forums, including WM US Management Committee, Combined US Management Committee and Global Operations Management Committee.
Between 2004-2014, Tom advanced through multiple increasingly responsible Operations positions, including Americas Head Investment Bank Operations and Global Head Cash Equity Operations. He directed day-to-day operations of organizations comprised of 600+ staff and managed budgets of several hundred million. During this tenure, he demonstrated strengths in finding innovative ways to improve processes, reduce back office costs, align IT, manage risks, increase customer satisfaction, and effectively plan for evolving competitive and regulatory landscapes.
In his earlier career (1997-2004) at Paine Webber (UBS’s predecessor firm) and UBS, Tom rapidly advanced from a Junior Operations Associate to Corporate Vice President.
Tom holds an MBA in Finance from Saint Peter’s College and a BA from SUNY at Cortland. His licenses include FINRA Series 7 and 27. In addition, he serves as Co-Vice Chair of SIFMA’s Operations and Technology Steering Committee and Member of the Federal Reserve Payments Risk Committee.
