Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel , Bank Policy Institute

John Court is currently Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at the Bank Policy Institute. He is responsible for developing and managing BPI’s advocacy efforts in a variety of different regulatory and policy areas, including principally Dodd-Frank Act implementation, ending TBTF, recovery & resolution planning, enhanced prudential standards, and structural reforms and activity limitations impacting banking organizations.  Additionally, he is the principal staff adviser to BPI’s Bank Regulatory Committee, which is comprised of the senior bank regulatory lawyers at BPI member banks.

Previously, Mr. Court served as Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel for The Clearing House Association, a successor organization to BPI.  Prior to joining The Clearing House, Mr. Court spent 10 years in private practice advising clients on various financial regulatory and enforcement matters, most recently as a member of the Financial Institutions Regulatory and Enforcement group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Mr. Court holds a B.A. from Cornell University and J.D. from George Washington University School of Law.
