
Muhammad Alam
Muhammad brings over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on broker dealer regulation, compliance, and operational risk.
He currently serves in the SEC’s Division of Examinations Broker Dealer Program, assessing compliance with financial responsibility rules such as Rule 15c3-3 (Customer Protection) and Rule 15c3-1 (Net capital) and contributes to national examination strategy related to financial operations.
Prior to joining the SEC, Muhammad held senior roles across major regulatory agencies and global financial institutions, including serving as Vice President and Senior Regulatory Reporting Controller for Bank of America.
He has led firm wide initiatives to automate reserve formula computations, strengthen internal controls frameworks, as well as improve the accuracy and efficiency of regulatory filings under Rule 17a-5. His experience spans daily net capital monitoring, broker dealer reporting processes, and the design of scalable compliance systems.
Based in Chicago, Muhammad holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
