SIA Submit Comments to Alabama State Representative Richard J. Lindsey on the Tax-Free Treatment of 529 Plans
Summary
The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* wrote a letter to Alabama State Representative Richard J. Lindsey regarding the tax treatment of all 529 Plans. 529 Plans are a savings vehicle that allows individuals to save for the education of a student. Rep. Lindsey is the Chairman of the Education, Finance and Appropriations Committee in the Alabama legislature. The SIA believes that all 529 Plans should be exempt from any taxes.
