Andy Palmer

Based in London, Andy Palmer is Head ILS Structuring EMEA & APAC at Swiss Re Capital Markets and CEO of Swiss Re Capital Markets Limited.

With over 15 years’ dedicated experience, Andy has led the arrangement of multiple ILS transactions, spanning non-life and life catastrophe bonds, sidecars, nat cat derivatives and insurance-linked financings for insurance and reinsurance companies (including Swiss Re itself), corporates and public sector entities.

On the fund side, Andy acted as a leader in the structuring of Swiss Re’s two ILS fund companies, the first established under the “1863” alternative capital platform, and the second, a catastrophe bond-focussed offering, established under the “1997” fund platform.

Andy was a member of the UK ILS Taskforce advising HM Treasury on the implementation of ILS regulations in the UK and, from time to time, continues to advise various governments today.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, Andy worked for Benfield Advisory, which was to become Aon Benfield Securities.  Before entering the ILS industry, Andy studied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
