The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the treatment under Federal securities laws of certain applications of emerging technology in the securities arena.  SIA offers it observations and recommendations regarding the issue.  SIA members remain concerned about a number of issues that have not been resolved relating to the regulatory treatment of the use of electronic media to communicate and transact business with their customers.  In particular, SIA members note that there is the possibility of conflicting treatment by different securities regulators.
