The Steering Committee on Security Futures of the Securities Industry Association (SIA)* and the Futures Industry Association (FIA) provide comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requesting interim relief related to the trading of foreign security futures products. The group request relief from various provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, to the extent necessary, to permit futures commission merchants (FCMs) that are dually registered as FCMs and broker-dealers, to provide certain services with respect to non-U.S. security futures products for customers who are not “U.S. persons.”
*SIFMA is the product of a merger between the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and The Bond Market Association (TBMA) in 2006.
