Joint Trades on FATF Consultation Paper on AML Standards

Summary

The Securities Industry Association (SIA)*, the Futures Industry Association (FIA), and the Investment Company Institute (ICI) provide comments to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on the FATF Forty Recommendations Consultation Paper (Consultation Paper) issued on May 30, 2002 which proposes anti-money laundering (AML) standards. The groups support developing international AML standards that promote uniformity and efficacy while respecting the unique concerns of each jurisdiction and financial industry.  The groups believe that all AML issues should be analyzed from the perspective of a risk-based approach. In addition, they offer their perspective on the Consultation Paper and AML standards in general.
