About National Investing Day
Established in 2025 by Charles Schwab, National Investing Day is observed annually on May 1. The date marks the anniversary of May Day in 1975, when the Securities and Exchange Commission eliminated fixed brokerage commission rates, expanding competition and investor access in the brokerage industry.
Supporting Financial Literacy
National Investing Day follows Financial Literacy Month in April.
Organizations interested in supporting financial education are encouraged to learn more about the SIFMA Foundation, which helps students build financial capability skills through programs such as The Stock Market Game™.
Financial professionals can support the Foundation by volunteering in classrooms, judging student essays, or contributing to support financial education initiatives.
