SIFMA Conducts Successful Industry-Wide Business Continuity Test
New York, NY, October 26, 2026 – SIFMA today issued the following statement from Charles DeSimone, SIFMA managing director, technology and operations, on SIFMA’s October 24, 2026 industry-wide business continuity test:
“Operational resilience remains a top priority for SIFMA and its members as we work to protect clients, data, networks and operations from a growing range of cyber threats, including theft, disruption and destruction. This past weekend, we conducted the 2026 SIFMA Industry Test, in which securities firms, market infrastructure providers and key third parties exercised their business continuity and disaster recovery plans, confirming their ability to operate from backup sites and recovery facilities and over backup communications. More than 90 entities participated, including equities and options exchanges, fixed income markets, market data providers, clearing agencies, payments platforms and service bureaus, along with a simulated Treasury auction.
“Alongside the Industry Test, Regulation SCI entities met their annual requirement to have designated members and participants test their business continuity and disaster recovery plans. SIFMA coordinates this testing for the industry as part of its broader business continuity work. This year’s Reg SCI testing included simulated trading days for all Reg SCI exchanges and ATSs, simulated post-trade activity for clearing utilities and simulated regulatory trade reporting.
“The test’s success shows once again that the securities industry is prepared to keep operating through adverse conditions. We thank every organization that took part.”
