The Bond Market Association (TBMA) provides comments to the Comptroller of the City of New York and the Comptroller of the State of New York Office on draft Predatory Lending Standards for the Secondary Market. The TBMA strongly supports the Comptrollers’ policy goal of eliminating abusive and predatory lending practices. However, TBMA does not believe that the adoption or endorsement of by securities underwritersof the specific draft standards would be a feasible, effective or appropriate policy response to predatory lending practices.
