SIFMA provides comments to the U.S. Department of Treasury (the Department) on the reform and modernization of India’s financial services sector and capital markets on the occasion of an upcoming meeting of the Economic and Financial Partnership on June 27-28, 2011.  SIFMA encourages the Department to raise the point with their Indian counterparts that despite India’s ongoing financial sector reforms, global firms still face a number of restrictions and a lack of transparency that hampers their access to India’s capital markets.  SIFMA sees the Economic and Financial Partnership meeting and other bilateral and global forums as opportunities to discuss these issues.
