Proposed Price Test Amendments to Regulation SHO

SIFMA provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on proposed price test amendments to Regulation SHO, Release No. 34-59748; File No. S7-08-09. The Commission has requested comment on whether, in light of recent market conditions and events, it should reinstate “price test” restrictions on short sales, which were eliminated in their entirety in 2007. In this regard, the SEC has proposed to amend Regulation SHO by implementing one of five alternative price test restrictions on short selling.
