Proposed Operations Professional Registration

SIFMA provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) proposal to establish a registration category and qualification examination requirement for certain operations and other support personnel and to adopt continuing education requirements for such personnel, Release No. 34-64080; File No. SR-FINRA-2011-The proposal also would adopt National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD) Rule 1120 (Continuing Education Requirements) as FINRA Rule 1250 in the consolidated FINRA rulebook with minor changes. SIFMA generally supports the proposal, and offers its observations and recommendations on the proposal’s details.
