SIFMA provides comments to the Maine House of Representatives Committee on Insurance and Financial Services on LD 1318, an Act to promote individual private savings accounts through a public-private partnership. SIFMA recognizes that there is a retirement savings challenge in this country and that action must be taken to mitigate this challenge, but does not believe that the proposed state run retirement plan for private sector workers is an appropriate measure.
