Federal Trade Commission on Combating Identity Theft

SIFMA provides comments to the Federal Identity Theft Task Force of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on combating identity theft and recommendations for a final strategic plan to address identity theft. SIFMA supports the goal of further improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the federal government’s activities in the areas of identity theft awareness, prevention, detection and prosecution.  SIFMA shares its expertise and opinions in areas critical to identity theft protection including: 1) Social Security Numbers; 2) national data security standards; 3) breach notification requirements; and 4) consumer education.
