Proposals to Require Listed Securities to be Eligible for a Direct Registration System

The Operations Committee of the Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provide comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on proposals to require listed securities to be eligible for a Direct Registration System (DRS) operated by a securities depository, File No. SR-NYSE-2006-29; SR-NYSE-2006-008; and Amex 2006-40. SIA strongly supports the proposals by the self-regulatory organizations and urges the SEC to grant prompt approval.
