The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) on the SEC’s Concert Release: Regulation of Market Information Fees and Revenues, Securities Exchange Act Release No. 42208, File No. S7-28-99. The issue of access to quality data and its cost are critical to SIA’s member firms and their customers. While there is overwhelming support for relating costs to revenues, there are significant differences of opinion as to which costs out to be funded by these fees. SIA offers its observations and recommendations regarding the SEC’s Concept Release.
