The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a proposal to change the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) fee structure, File No. SR-NYSE-2002-66. SIA believes that the proposal should be filed under section 19(b)(2) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, which provides for industry comment and SEC review of a rule proposal before it becomes effective. SIA supports the purpose of the fee changes, but believes that there should be an opportunity for industry comment and SEC review before significant changes become effective in order to ensure that the proposed fees are fair and reasonable.

*SIFMA is the product of a merger between the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and The Bond Market Association (TBMA) in 2006.
