The Federal Regulation Committee of the Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a proposal relating to supplementary financial information, File No. S7-03-00.In particular, the proposal would change Item 302 of Regulation S-K. SIA believes that in at least two key respects that some of the disclosures called for will unintentionally but seriously harm public companies and their shareholders, and will discourage good accounting practices.
