The Federal Regulation Committee and the Self-Regulation and Supervisory Practices Committee of the Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the National Association of Securities Dealers Regulation, Inc (NASDR) on a proposal to grant temporary ceases and desist authority to the enforcement staff of the NASDR, NASD Notice to Members 98-42. SIA believes that the proposal is unwarranted in that the NASDR has not demonstrated a need for such extraordinary power.
