SIA Submits Comments to the DTI on Proposed Reciprocity Provisions to the EU Takeover Directive

The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the U.K.Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on the proposed reciprocity provisions to the European Union (EU) Takeover Directive. These provisions run contrary to the EU’s goal of creating efficient markets, boosting competitiveness, and attracting foreign investment and could be an additional source of friction in U.S. and EU relations. SIA urges the DTI to ensure that the U.K. strongly opposes the reciprocity amendments to the Takeover Directive in all EU forums.
