SIA Submits Comments to the CFTC on Over-the-Counter Derivatives and the Regulatory Framework for Exchanges and Clearing Organizations

The Over-The-Counter (OTC)Derivatives Products Committee of the Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provide comments to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)proposals relating to CFTC Rules on exemption for bilateral transactions, regulatory reinvention and clearing organizations reinvention. The proposal would promote legal certainty of OTC derivatives under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and reevaluate the regulatory framework applicable to regulated futures exchanges and clearing organizations under the CEA. SIA strongly encourages the adoption of the proposed rules after implementing some modifications and suggestions that it offers in this correspondence.
