SIA Submits Comments to Multiple Federal Agencies on Unauthorized Access to Customer Information and Customer Service Notice
The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments totheOffice of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Federal Reserve), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on interagency guidance on response programs for unauthorized access to customer information and customer service notice, OCC Docket No. 03-18, OTS No. 03-35, Federal Reserve Docket No. OP-1155. SIA narrows their focus on the issues they believe are the most important areas of concern including:
- the standard for determining when notice must be provided to regulators and customers;
- the customer notice timing requirement; and
- the requirement to secure accounts.
