SIA Submits Comments to Multiple Federal Agencies on Proposed Insurance Consumer Protection Rules under Gramm-Leach-Bliley
The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency(OCC) (Docket No. 00-16), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Federal Reserve) (Docket No. R-1079), the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) (Docket No: 2000-68) on proposed insurance consumer protection rules issued under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB)Act. SIA shares concerns about the rules because many of their members engage in the sale of certain insurance products and annuities on the premises of depository institutions, some of which are affiliated entities.
