IOSCO Consultation Report on Regulatory Issues Arising From Exchange Evolution

The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) on the consultation report of its Technical Committee, Regulatory Issues Arising from Exchange Evolution.  SIA provide observations and recommendations relating to two aspects of the report: the conflicts of interest between the commercial interests of a for-profit exchange and the regulatory function that many exchanges play in overseeing potential competitors, and the ways in which these conflicts might be remediated.

*SIFMA is the product of a merger between the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and The Bond Market Association (TBMA) in 2006.
