SIA Submits Comments to FinCEN on Special Information Sharing Provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act

The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) of the U.S. Department of Treasury on the special information sharing provisions of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001. The proposed rule and interim rule stemming from Section 314 of the USA PATRIOT Act would encourage information sharing among financial institutions and government agencies in efforts against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
