SIA Submits Comments to FinCEN and the SEC on Customer Identification Programs for Broker-Dealers

The Securities Industry Association (SIA)* provides comments to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)of the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on a proposed rule to implement Section 326 of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001, which would establish customer identification programs for broker-dealers, SEC File No. S7-25-02. SIA recommends certain modifications to the proposal that would that they believe would will enhance the effectiveness of the customer identification procedures.
