Scott advises Fidelity and its subsidiaries on handling AML, sanctions, financial crimes, export control, and other regulatory issues and developments involving financial transactions, securities, broker-dealers, cryptocurrency, and fintech. As a former federal prosecutor, he investigated, solved, and prosecuted national security, export control, sanctions, fraud, and insider threat crimes, and also led internal compliance operations regarding professional ethics. Representative cases involved the Boston Marathon bombing; illegal retention of classified information regarding US missile defense technology; hoax anthrax letters to government officials, including during a presidential election, and other public figures; the illegal exportation of atomic clocks to China; money laundering of proceeds from identity theft by international gangs; and theft of trade secrets from one of the largest microchip designers and manufacturers.
