Ryan Doherty

Ryan Doherty serves as the Chief Privacy Officer at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., and also has responsibilities as global chief of compliance for technology, cybersecurity, and data governance.   Prior to joining Schwab in 2019, Ryan spent 12 years at GE Capital where he started as senior counsel and progressed to deputy general counsel (and chief privacy counsel) with responsibility for providing legal advice to commercial lending & leasing business units and corporate functions on a wide variety of areas, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, M&A, information security & privacy, records management, regulatory/licensing, intellectual property & outsourcing. Prior to GE, Ryan spent 8 years at IBM Corporation as senior counsel providing advice on a wide variety of global legal and compliance matters at the company’s semiconductor manufacturing business unit and the outsourcing & business consulting business units.  Ryan started his career as an associate attorney with a law firm located in New York.
