Lani Quarmby is the Legal Chief Operating Officer (COO), Head of Transformation and Global Legal Solutions. She is a member of the Legal Management Council (LMC) and is an LMC Sponsor for the Global Legal Academy.
Lani leads Global Legal Solutions (GLS), the global legal operations team that has responsibility for risk management, department strategy, critical global regulatory remediation and transformation, and data management and governance. GLS is responsible for financial planning and forecasting, legal operational risk management and reporting (including cyber and information security), outside counsel management, third party management, change management, knowledge management, training, innovation and technology solutions, data, and e-discovery and records management.
Prior to her position at Citi, she was an Associate General Counsel and Managing Director at Bank of America leading Legal Operations. Lani was also a Counsel in the Adversarial Department of O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. Before joining O’Melveny & Myers, Lani was a Commissioned Officer at the White House and served as Special Assistant to the President of the United States. Prior to assuming her post at the White House, she was a Federal Prosecutor in the Fraud Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Virginia. Lani also was Assistant to the Attorney General and Counsel to the Associate Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, and later, Counselor to the General Counsel at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington D.C.
