Kipp Kranbuhl

Global Head of Regulatory Strategy & Policy, Citi

Kipp Kranbuhl is Citi’s Global Head of Regulatory Strategy and Policy. Working closely with Citi’s leaders from across its businesses, functions, and geographies, Kipp leads Citi’s Regulatory Strategy and Policy team, which is charged with analyzing financial regulatory initiatives, policies and standards set by global regulators and driving and coordinating Citi’s regulatory policy advocacy efforts. He is a member of Citi’s Global Legal Affairs and Compliance leadership team.

Kipp joined Citi from Barclays, where he focused on regulatory strategy and policy development for the United States. Before joining Barclays, Kipp worked at the U.S. Department of the Treasury where he was a member of the Secretary’s Senior Staff and served in multiple leadership roles within its Office of Domestic Finance including leading the Office of Financial Markets and the Office of Financial Institutions. In these roles, Kipp was responsible for establishing the Department’s policy positions for the securities, banking, and insurance industries, and managing the funding operations of the U.S. government including oversight of the U.S. Treasury Securities’ auctions. He is the recipient of the Alexander Hamilton Award, the Treasury Department’s highest honor.

Prior to his service at Treasury, Kipp worked for Gladstone Investment Corporation and Petra Capital Partners, investing private equity and debt capital in, and serving on the boards of, companies across a broad range of industries. He began his career in investment banking, working for Wheat First Butcher Singer/First Union Securities. Kipp holds an AB in political science and economics from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
