John Welch is Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Incident Management at Truist, where he leads the bank’s enterprise strategy for crisis and incident response across all major business disruptions, including cyber threats, natural disasters, technology outages, third-party failures, and geopolitical events.
He also serves as Co-Chair of SIFMA’s Business Continuity Planning Committee, helping shape sector-wide preparedness frameworks and contributing to the Quantum Dawn exercise series.
John brings more than 20 years of experience building and leading enterprise resilience programs at large, complex financial institutions. He previously served as Managing Director and Global Head of Crisis Management at State Street, where he built the firm’s Global Crisis Management Framework.
Earlier in his career, he spent over two decades at Charles Schwab in senior leadership roles spanning business continuity, technology resilience oversight, cyber resilience, and incident management.
His current focus includes impact tolerance frameworks, important business services mapping, and regulatory alignment across U.S. and global resilience standards.
