Deborah North is a partner in Cleary Gottlieb’s Financial Institutions Group. Deborah’s practice covers a broad range of derivatives and structured finance transactions, focused on OTC derivatives, structured synthetic products, and the cross-border security arrangements and the regulatory issues they often entail. She has extensive experience drafting industry standard documentation for ISDA and FIA. She is currently advising SIFMA and SIFMA AMG on the standard documentation for the clearing of U.S Treasury Transactions. Deborah is a leading lawyer for the clearing of OTC derivatives and has developed an extensive derivatives regulatory practice, where she advised on developing the market infrastructure for swaps clearing. She has served as a special governmental employee of the CFTC. Deborah joined the firm as a partner in 2022. She received an LLB from King’s College London, and a Diploma in Legal Practice from The College of Law, London.
