Dan McManus

Dan McManus is Deputy General Counsel, Head of Municipal Securities Legal & Compliance at Stifel.  He serves as in-house counsel to Stifel’s public finance department in connection with all municipal securities transactions and manages the compliance policies for the firm in accordance with the laws and rules of the SEC, FINRA, and MSRB.  Prior to Stifel, Mr. McManus spent 18 years as General Counsel at National Public Finance Guarantee Corporation, a municipal bond insurance company of MBIA Inc., and was responsible for all legal and regulatory activities with respect to National’s $500 billion portfolio of insured municipal bonds and $2.4 billion fixed income investment portfolio. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors and Investment Committee of National. Previously, Mr. McManus was a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP, a nationally ranked bond counsel firm, serving as bond counsel and underwriters counsel in municipal securities transactions nationwide.  He is a member of the SIFMA Compliance and Legal Society and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.  Mr. McManus has a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and a Juris Doctor from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University.
