Dan McClain

VP, Fraud Detection and Coordinated Trading, FINRA

Dan McClain serves as the Vice President for the Fraud Detection and Coordinated Trading teams within FINRA’s Market Regulation and Transparency Services Department. These teams are responsible for the timely detection and investigation of potentially fraudulent activity and manipulative trading in the U.S. securities markets. Dan previously served as Deputy Director in FINRA’s Office of Fraud Detection and Market Intelligence, where he managed six groups responsible for conducting surveillance of the equity markets for potential insider trading. Since joining FINRA in 2004, Dan has held several other positions within the organization, including as a Director in the Department of Enforcement ,where he managed a team of investigators and attorneys, and as a Hearing Officer in FINRA’s Office of Hearing Officers. Prior to joining FINRA, Dan worked in the U.S. Department of Justice, where he specialized in complex financial institution cases involving forensic accounting, financial modeling, bank operations, and fraud. He also worked in a large Philadelphia law firm and clerked for a federal district judge in Wilmington, Delaware.
