Beth Ybarra Crean

Associate General Counsel and Managing Director,, Bank of America

Beth Ybarra Crean has been in-house counsel to Bank of America since December 2004.  She is based in Boston, and she currently manages the litigation portfolio for Global Wealth Management.  Crean is responsible for a portfolio of 300+ cases representing over $1B in potential exposure to the Company, leading a team of 7 people, and providing strategic advice to senior business partners, including the Board of Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith.

Previous roles included Litigation Counsel for Consumer & Small Business Banking and managing the Consumer Regulatory Enforcement litigation portfolio, representing the Company in enforcement matters involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

During her time at Bank of America, Crean has volunteered with Diversity Lab, an organization which drives solutions to boost diversity and inclusion in law.  Crean also volunteered with the Election Protection Hotline during the 2020 election, and with Project Citizenship and PAIR (Political Asylum / Immigration Representation), where she assisted immigrants who were applying for U.S. citizenship.

Earlier in her career, Crean worked as a litigation associate in the San Francisco and Boston offices for Bingham McCutchen (now Morgan Lewis & Bockius).

Crean received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, and she received her Bachelor’s in English, with honors, with a minor in Spanish from the University of California at Berkeley.  At U.C. Berkeley, Crean was also recognized as a Regents Scholar and a National Hispanic Commended Scholar.
