Statement on the Passing of U.S. Congressman John Lewis

Washington, D.C., July 18, 2020 – The following statement from Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr. on the passing of U.S. Congressman John R. Lewis was issued today:

“John Lewis was an American original who devoted every day of his life to equality and justice and respect for human dignity. His life’s work lifted millions across generations and continents and his legacy will continue to do so.  I was a privileged to be his colleague and friend and join the nation in mourning his passing.”
