SIFMA Leads Comment Letter on myRA Account Balance Transfers to Roth IRAs

Washington, DC, October 27, 2015 – Today, SIFMA, the American Bankers Association (ABA) and the Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) sent a comment letter the U.S. Department of Treasury on the process for transferring myRA’s to the private sector. The letter expresses support for myRA’s goal of encouraging retirement savings and offers comments and requests for specific guidance.

“We applaud the Treasury’s efforts to create a simple, safe, and affordable savings option for workers without access to an employer-sponsored retirement plan and for those individuals looking to supplement their savings,” said Lisa Bleier, SIFMA managing director. “SIFMA strongly supports the creation of this new federal retirement program and is committed to helping individuals save for a secure retirement.”
