Courtney Ryan and Lucas West Join SIFMA Advocacy Team

Washington, D.C., March 2, 2023 – SIFMA today announced Courtney Ryan and Lucas West will join the Association’s Federal Advocacy team.  As Vice Presidents of Federal Government Affairs, Ms. Ryan and Mr. West will manage several federal government relations portfolios.

They both have substantial advocacy and financial services policy experience that will be of great value as we continue to advocate for efficient and effective capital markets on behalf of our members,” said SIFMA president and CEO Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr.

Joseph Seidel, chief operating officer of SIFMA, added, “Courtney and Lucas bring significant Capitol Hill and advocacy experience to SIFMA. Their skills will be a terrific complement to our current advocacy team as we advocate for policies that promote capital formation and robust markets.”

Ms. Ryan joins SIFMA from the Credit Union National Association, where she served as Director of Advocacy. Previously, Ms. Ryan served as Deputy Executive Director and Finance Director of House Majority PAC and House Majority Forward.  Ms. Ryan also served as Regional Candidate Fundraising Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and as a senior account executive at Katz Watson Group in Washington, DC. Ms. Ryan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University

Mr. West joins SIFMA after working for U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) for nearly a decade. Most recently he served as the Congressman’s Senior Policy Advisor, leading the Missourian’s efforts on the House Financial Services Committee, and as the Chairman of the HFSC Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions. Mr. West has served over nine years and in several legislative roles for Congressman Luetkemeyer, including senior policy advisor, legislative director, legislative assistant, and legislative correspondent. Mr. West earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College.

Ms. Ryan will begin at SIFMA on March 15.  Mr. West will begin at SIFMA on March 13.  Both will be located in SIFMA’s Washington, D.C. office.
