Course Description

This session will focus on our latest outlook on macro conditions, asset classes, and investment ideas. Following the catastrophic shuttering of economies, global activity has been recovering from the impact of the pandemic. With the latest global economic recovery fueled by unprecedented monetary and fiscal policy support, investors wonder if the recovery can continue.

2020 saw the sharpest and shortest recession since WWII. As we look into 2021, we believe recovery is upon us, but this recovery feels unlike any other. The usual suspects of risk factors continue to elevate global policy uncertainty, including: politics, labor force impairment, US-China relations, and Brexit realization. Still, none of these compare to the market and economic-altering capacity of COVID-19. As economies cautiously re-open, we believe this next bull expansion will be hallmarked by lower average returns and greater valuation dispersion. From an investment perspective, we find that the lessons of strategic discipline, risk management, and quality learned from navigating recent volatility should prove useful yet again.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the current state of the macro economy and the markets
  • Recognize trends that may continue to fuel the recovery going forward
  • Explore actionable investment themes
