Course Description

Research from Google’s best-performing teams suggests that among many factors that contribute to the health of a team, the most important lever is the experience of “psychological safety” on the team. Drawing upon current research-- from Google, MIT and other organizations -- we will explore what psychological safety means for employees, why it’s so important, and what you, as leaders can do to create the conditions for it on your teams.  In an online work environment that many of us find ourselves in since Covid-19, creating and maintaining psychological safety is that much more complex, and we will address and discuss virtual concerns in this class. We will also look at the creative tension between creating psychological safety while also cultivating an environment where disagreement and difficult conversations can also exist. Leadership has never been so necessary and so complex.
