Louis Santangelo

Managing Director, Senior Counsel, Employment Law Societe Generale

Louis G. Santangelo is a Managing Director and Senior Counsel for Societe Generale’s corporate and investment banking business in the Americas leading its Employment Law team.

He is responsible for defending all employment-related litigation against the Firm including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and compensation. He advises senior management and Human Resources on all aspects of the employment relationship including recruiting, hiring, performance management, discipline and terminations. He conducts internal investigations with respect to whistleblowing, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, and other misconduct in the workplace. He is counsel to the Firm’s Disciplinary Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Council. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he has advised senior management and the Firm’s Crisis Response Team on compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations relating to Covid-19 health and safety.

Previously, Mr. Santangelo was an employment attorney at Citigroup supporting its Institutional Clients Group.

Mr. Santangelo received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law where he was Director of Publications for the Criminal Law Institute and Executive Editor of its Federal Case Review.

Mr. Santangelo is a faculty member for the Practicing Law Institute and speaks frequently on employment law matters at bar association and financial services industry seminars and conferences.
