Edward Kromberg is a Senior Revenue Agent in the IRS LB&I Foreign Payments Practice. In this role, Ed is responsible for the audits of multi-national financial institutions, brokerage firms, mutual funds, and insurance companies, addressing Chapters 3 and 4 (IRC Sections 1441 and 1471), encompassing U.S. reporting and withholding tax. Prior to joining the IRS in 2009, Ed was employed by Citigroup Global Markets Inc. as a Senior Vice President in the Corporate Tax Department where he was tasked with monitoring and advising the various business lines including the firm’s retail branch network on all areas of information reporting (both Chapters 61 and 3) in addition to ensuring compliance of certain Qualified Intermediaries of Citigroup Global Markets, and Citibank NA, including QI renewal agreements, audit waivers, and QI audits. Ed received a BA in Economics from the City University of New York, and a MBA in Taxation from Pace University. Between 1984 and 2004, Ed represented Smith Barney Inc. on the Securities Industry Association’s Tax Compliance and Administration Committee.
